Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, you the Employer
are responsible for supplying your electrical workers with the proper
safety equipment and training on the use and maintenenace of the
equipment, in this case Rubber Electrical Gloves, Mats or Shields
(Chapter 0.1, Section 25, Sub-Section 1, b, d). Non-compliance could
lead to disabilitating injuries or death of an employee, not to
mention fines as high as $500,000, to an employer and $ 25,000 to
a worker not wearing rubber gloves while performing any task live.

Penalties Section 66, Sub-Section 1, 2).
LEGISLATION CONCERNING THE USE OF RUBBER GLOVES

An employer shall ensure that, |

(a) |
the equipment, materials and protective devices
as described are provided; |

(b) |
the equipment, materials and protective devices
provided by the employer are maintained in good condition; |
| |
(c) |
the measures and procedures prescribed are carried
out in the workplace; |
| |
(d) |
the equipment, materials and protective devices
provided by the employer are used as prescribed. |

Despite section 188, this section applies if it
is not practical to disconnect electrical equipment or conductors
from the power supply before working on, or near, live exposed
parts of the equipment or conductors. |

The worker shall use rubber gloves, mats, shields
and other protective equipment and procedures adequate to ensure
protection from electrical shock and burns while performing
the work. |
TESTING STANDARDS
Frequency of laboratory tests as per the following standards.
