Ring in a safe & worry-free new year with the right safety training

Lineman’s Testing Laboratories strives to create safer work environments for both electrical and non-electrical workers. In addition to supplying and servicing all your personal protective equipment and related tools, LTL offers specialized training. Available both online and in-class, training for the electrical worker is aimed not only at the electrical technician, but at employers and/or supervisors as well.

ONLINE TRAINING

LTL offers two online training modules ― one designed for electrical workers and the other for non-electrical workers.

LTL’s electrical safety training for electrical workers is a 4-hour qualification level course applying content from the CSA Z462 standard to allow you to identify and quantify shock and arc flash hazards, while providing guidance on applying a Plan, Do, Check, Act philosophy when you have to work with energized electrical equipment.

Students learn to:

  • Explain the regulations and industry best practice standards applicable to their role and responsibilities
  • Identify and understand electrical hazards and risk assessment
  • Effectively manage electrical hazards by following the Work Flow Process to safely execute energized electrical work
  • Complete electrical hazard analysis for a work task
  • Apply preventive and protective control measures
  • Understand requirements for electrical incident emergency response and incident reporting requirements

The electrical safety training for non-electrical workers is a 45 minute awareness level course that delivers a basic understanding of workplace electrical safety.

Students in this program learn to:

  • Explain the regulations and industry best practice standards related to electrical safety
  • Identify and understand electrical hazards and the difference between normal and abnormal conditions on energized electrical equipment
  • Learn a procedure for isolating electrical equipment
  • Use a Look, Listen and Smell philosophy when you approach energized electrical equipment
  • Learn about the risk of being shocked when using power tools, power cords and the need for GFCIs
  • Learn about Overhead Power Line safety
  • Understand requirements for electrical incident emergency response and incident reporting requirements
